Seller Rules & Standards

These Seller Rules & Standards apply to every Private Seller and Dealer listing on Watch Chamber. They form part of the Terms & Conditions and are read together with the Acceptable Use Policy, the Counterfeit & Illegal Goods Policy, the Intellectual Property & Copyright Policy and the Marketplace Disclaimer.

1. Accurate descriptions

Every Listing must accurately state make, model, reference, year (or best estimate), material, movement type, condition, box and papers status, service history, and any known faults or replacement parts. Ambiguous, misleading or exaggerated descriptions are prohibited.

2. Genuine ownership & legal title

You warrant that you own the watch outright, have full legal title, and are entitled to sell it. You must not list watches subject to finance, lien, dispute, or third-party claim.

3. Authentic watches only

Only genuine watches from the stated brand may be listed. Counterfeits, replicas, "homage" pieces marketed as originals, "franken" watches with undisclosed non-original parts, and fantasy references are strictly prohibited under the Counterfeit & Illegal Goods Policy.

4. Photography standards

Photographs must be of the actual watch being sold — not stock or manufacturer images. A minimum of clear front, back, side, movement (where reasonable), and box/papers photographs is expected. Photographs must not be materially edited to conceal condition. You must own the rights to the images or have permission to use them.

5. Pricing

Prices must be genuine and displayed clearly. Bait pricing, hidden fees, and price manipulation across the Platform are prohibited.

6. Communication standards

Respond to Buyer enquiries promptly and courteously. Do not attempt to move first contact off the Platform to circumvent fees, defraud Buyers, or evade moderation. Abusive, discriminatory or misleading communications are prohibited.

7. Consumer-law compliance (Dealers)

Dealers must comply with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, the Sale of Goods Act (where applicable), the Trade Descriptions and Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations, VAT and tax obligations, and any regulatory obligations that apply to their business. Dealers must publish returns and warranty terms and honour them.

8. Private Seller obligations

Private Sellers must sell "as described" and in accordance with any specific representations made. Systematic trading may require you to convert to a Dealer account and accept dealer-level obligations.

9. Shipping expectations

Sellers are responsible for secure packaging, tracked and insured dispatch appropriate to the value of the watch, and providing tracking information to the Buyer. Delivery times must be honestly communicated.

10. Auctions

Reserve prices must be genuine. Shill bidding, retracting bids without good cause, refusing to complete a winning sale, or off-platform side-deals to avoid fees are prohibited (see Acceptable Use Policy).

11. Disputes & refunds

Sellers must handle Buyer disputes fairly and comply with any statutory refund or repair obligations. Watch Chamber does not arbitrate Transaction disputes but may remove Listings and suspend accounts under the Account Suspension & Appeals Policy.

12. Consequences of breach

Breaches may result in Listing edits or removal, warnings, loss of Verified Dealer or Members Club status, suspension, permanent ban, refusal of refunds, and — where fraud, counterfeiting or stolen goods are involved — referral to Trading Standards, the Police or other authorities.
